Dine Around
A collaborative fundraising effort

Thousands of diners in San Francisco will open their wallets and hearts in support of HIV/AIDS and breast cancer by participating in the sixth annual Dine Around. Participating restaurants donate 25% of food and beverage receipts to these important causes that affect each of us in some way.

Dine Around is more than just about the restaurants, it’s a collaborative endeavor of all sorts of people and organizations that together make up the communities of the Castro, Noe Valley, SOMA and Mission. And because the participating restaurants reflect a broad cross-section of food styles and prices, everyone able to support the cause, regardless of income level or tastes.

Neighborhood Partners include community groups, civic clubs, business associations, local media outlets and neighborhood businesses. Each of these friends of AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF) and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF) has contributed time and energy to plan the event, help get the word out, or provide volunteers. Because of the generosity of these people, 100% of the proceeds raised of the fundraiser will go directly to the clients of AEF and BCEF!

AEF offers short-term emergency financial assistance to San Franciscans battling HIV/AIDS. Since 1982, AEF has rallied community support to help pay basic living costs such as rent, utility bills and medical expenses for poverty-level San Franciscans with disabling HIV or AIDS. AEF launched BCEF in 2001 to provide direct financial assistance to low-income residents fighting breast cancer.

Organizers are especially grateful to their Neighborhood Partners who are helping to make the event a huge success suck as Castro Lions Club, Merchants of Upper Market and Castro, OpenTable.com, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Zephyr Real Estate.

“Zephyr real estate agents are excited about the chance to host their clients and friends at participating restaurants that night and to tap their Rolodexes to bring new restaurants into the program,” said Deborah Udin, broker manager at Zephyr.
