Musical Hit Oh My Godmother!
Coming to San Francisco this Summer

Ron Lytle’s unstoppable musical comedy Oh My Godmother! is making the move to San Francisco this June.

“Take everything you know about Cinderella, paint it pink, add some toe-tapping tunes and a surprise or two, and you have Oh My Godmother!,” said Lytle, the musical’s creator and director.

“The amazing thing about this show is how strongly all kinds of audiences have responded to it. Young and old, men and women, gay and straight have all left the theater smiling and humming. There really is something in it for everyone. That’s especially true now that it’s finally playing San Francisco; the city is virtually a character in the show!”

Once upon a time in a kingdom by a Bay…

Oh My Godmother! tells the hilarious story of Albert, a young gay man living in San Francisco with dreams of escaping his homophobic stepmother and stepsisters. Fate intervenes in his search for true love when he meets the dashing it-boy Prince. There’s only one problem: a comically delicious turn of events leaves Prince with no idea who Albert really is, or how to find him. Leave it to Albert’s fun and dishy Godmother (a man) to save the day with his sage advice and uproarious antics. Lots of zany humor, snappy dialogue, syncopated showstoppers, and soaring romance makes this the #1 musical to see this summer in San Francisco.

The cast of Oh My Godmother! is drawn from throughout the Bay Area, and many have been with the production since its 2005 premiere. Leading the cast are Brandon Finch (Albert) of San Francisco, Kyle Payne (Prince) of San Leandro, and Scott Phillips (Godmother) of Danville.

Ron Lytle (Music, Lyrics, Book, Director, Set Designer) began his career in the 1980s as a singer and dancer in summer stock.  After studying musical theater at the University of Michigan, he performed leading roles in musical comedies such as Singing in the Rain, Little Shop of Horrors, Company and 42nd Street regionally, as well as in productions for The Walt Disney Company and National Public Radio.

The campy, boisterous retelling of the Cinderella story will play June 26 through July 26 at San Francisco’s Zeum Theater. ohmygodmother.com.
