Terese Genecco
Opens The Rrazz Room
When Terese Genecco and her 7-piece “Little Big Band” start to play, the crowd goes wild, the rafters shake and one is immediately transported to the days of retro-cool, 50’s-style Las Vegas nightclub acts that kept people coming back week after week for more great music and hip entertainment.
Genecco is only 5 feet tall but when she is on the bandstand she rules the roost. Her new show, “LAST CALL!” plays Saturday nights at 10:30 in downtown San Francisco at the newest nightspot, The Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko.
Genecco was named San Francisco’s “Entertainer of the Year” in 2003 when she won the SF-Bay Area Cabaret Competition and has been going non-stop ever since. Her Frances Faye Tribute show “Drunk With Love” has been lauded on both the East and West Coasts, culminating with Time Out NY Magazine naming it one of the Top 10 Best Cabaret Shows of 2006 and 2007 and saying: “Terese Genecco is Frisky Retro Fun! More fun than an entire evening of Rufus Wainwright at Carnegie Hall !” (Frances Faye was a legendary 1950’s lesbian nightclub icon.)
Other band members will include local favorites Mike Greensill on piano,
Ellen Seeling (founder of the Montclair Women’s Big Band) on trumpet, Max Perkoff on trombone, Fil Lorenz and Jean Fienberg (also of the MWBB) on sax, with a rotating roster of other West Coast jazz greats filling out the 7-pieces each week.
Artists appearing at the Rrazz Room in the 8:00 pm show slots will sit in with Genecco and her band at the late show, when available. Artists booked through June 2008 include Lainie Kazan, Diane Schuur, Maureen McGovern, Katey Sagal, Lynda Carter, Ashford & Simpson, Jane Olivor, Bobby Caldwell, Oleta Adams, and others. teresegenecco.com or therrazzroom.com
