Jackie Warner’s Summer Workout Tips
WORK OUT Season 3 premieres April 15th

Warner hopes that people pick up on her message of fitness and wellness and make positive changes in their lives. But more than that, she says, "I don't want lesbians and gays to have the self-loathing that I did (as a teenager), so that's part of why I was willing to have my life under a microscope with this series."

What can I do to have a summer-ready body?
Listen, if there was a magic pill, I would take it and I would sell it, but there's not. But you don't have to kill yourself. It takes smart, hard work.

I came up with, the three F's of fitness: function, form and fatigue. Using the right functioning with the perfect form to complete fatigue. And complete fatigue means that you do certain back-to-back exercises until you cannot lift yourself again.

Is it easier to lose weight in the summer?
People tend to lose weight in the summer because their body temperature is more heated, they’re more active, and they change their behavior. People walk more, and they’re more athletic. I easily shed three to five pounds once the rainy season is over in L.A. -- not because I change my workout, I just naturally stop eating.

How about outdoors?
I think it’s great to work outdoors; I prefer it to a gym. It warms up your body temperature and muscles. I know it’s bad for your skin, but I love working out in the sun, too. Just slather on the sunscreen and make sure you drink a lot of water.

How do you stick to a fitness plan while on vacation?
I used to only stay at hotels with gyms, but what a waste! I never used them. Workout by hiking or walking or even snorkeling, it’s an intense workout. Sleep, swim, snorkel, have fun and keep it interesting.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from being on reality TV?
Win or lose, Sky Lab, Sky Sport and my fashion line, all of it is on me, and I have to make it work. You only have yourself to rely on, that’s what I learned.

Has being a lesbian been an asset or a liability to you in your business and as a personal trainer?
I don’t think it’s been either. Being a lesbian, or being gay, is a struggle. Especially in your youth when you’re formulating who you are. It’s difficult because society doesn’t accept it. In business, I think of myself as a businesswoman. I never think about the gay issue. I always say first and foremost, I’m a woman.

Do you have any celebrity lesbians calling you for personal training?
I do. Not that I can name. I have a couple. bravotv.com
