OUT Spoken's 5 Gay New Year's Resolutions
Before saying farewell to 2007, here are five OUT Spoken resolutions
that will guarantee you a better 2008.
1. Go Green
Green is the new black embraced by corporations, the media and celebrities in 2007. This fade is trending up and just might stick around until Global Warming is solved. Start with the three R's (reduce, recycle, reuse), cut down your energy and water consumption at home and work and give up water bottles. More
2. No More Drama
TNT's slogan is "We Know Drama," A gay man's slogan is "We Are Drama!" Give up gossip and win back those lost friendships. Forgive yourself and forgive those who've gossiped against you. Release your anger and resentments and give others the space to make mistakes. You'll find more people flocking to get close to you!
3. Fight for Equal Rights
HRC, Transgender Law Center, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Equality California and ACLU and EqualRights are a few San Francisco based organizations that are fighting for social justice as it relates to the LGBT community. Even if you're not the flag waving type, there is still an opportunity to help further gay equality. equalrights.org
4. Know your HIV status.
Get tested for HIV. The anxiety of getting an HIV test and the fear of a life-changing result may be overwhelming for some, which may keep some from getting tested. Now with the quick saliva test, results are known in 20 minutes. Give up the panic and learn your status today. stopaids.org
5. Volunteer
When you volunteer you are giving something back to your community by lending a helping hand to people and organizations. What you may not realize is that volunteering also benefits you as an individual. There are many good reasons to get involved in the community, including learning something about yourself and meeting other gay people with similar interests. You don't need a special talent to volunteer, just your dedication. volunteermatch.org
