By Tim Gaskin
Hi-NRG Singer/Songwriter Kristine W is coming to the San Francisco to perform for AIDS Emergency Fund’s (AEF) 25th Anniversary Gala July 21st. The international dance music star has release four albums since 1996 and worked with stars such as Patti LaBelle, CeCe Peniston and Rupaul, but Kristine says she feels happiest when performing on stage.
Where did your life begin? In a farm town called Pasco, WA
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Floating in the ocean.
What is your greatest fear? No one is proactive about saving the planet.
Which historical figure do you most identify with? Due to the current state of the music industry, I identify with Joan of Ark.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? That I trust people right away.
What is your greatest extravagance? Buying costumes that are way too expensive.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? People say patience is a virtue but I think it is overrated.
What is your favorite journey? Traveling to Europe alone to record the "Land of the Living" album. It was a creative endeavor imitated on blind faith.
What do you dislike most about your appearance? My butt sticks too far out in the back. However, one of my hairdressers just had a butt augmentation, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? That is fabulous!
What is your greatest regret? That I wasn't there when my step father died. Although he was totally healthy.
What or who is the greatest love of your life? Both of my children.
When and where were you happiest? I am always happiest when I am on stage. I feel totally at home.
Which talent would you most like to have? Now that my little girl is getting good on the violin, I want to pursue it as well.
What is your current state of mind? A bit frazzled since we've been working on "The Power of Music" album nonstop.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I always wanted to be one of those portable, petite, delicate and fragile girls. But at 6'0" tall and size 10 feet, it's not going to
happen.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Being able to make sure my mom is well cared for although she's totally independent. I'm happy to provide the "extras" from time to time.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? A huge glacier. That way I can save the polar bears by not melting.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? When you've lost all hope.
What is your favorite occupation? Veterinarians.
What is your most marked characteristic? That I'm approachable.
What is the quality you most like in a man? Quiet confidence.
What is the quality you most like in a woman? I love it when they are independent.
Who are your favorite writers? Alan Rich, Diane Warren, Janice Robinson and, of course, Kristine W.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? I love the Pink Panther. He is always ultra-cool.
Who are your heroes in real life? Any organization that is trying to preserve wildlife and protect
endangered species of any kinds.
What is it that you most dislike? Deforestation, unnecessary waste of resources and the federal government not implementing better recycling programs.
How would you like to die? I want my heart to stop when I'm dancing at 140 bpm
What is your motto? Let's work it!
What is your favorite word? Fabulous
What is your least favorite word? Can’t
What turns you on? Australian men.
What turns you off? When guys immediately start telling you their bio.
What sound or noise do you love? The sound of the jungle in Nevis (Bahamas). The frogs sing at night.
What sound or noise do you hate? When a sound system isn't EQ'd properly.
What is your favorite curse word? Shit.
What profession, other than yours, would you like to attempt? There are so many things that I want to do. One of which is I'd like to own a winery and grow my own grapes.
What profession would you absolutely not like to participate in? I would not want to be the person that performs euthanasia on the animals at the pound.
If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"Well done KDub, well done."
