Perez Hilton Isn’t Complaining
Answers OUT Spoken’s questions
By Tim Gaskin

Perez Hilton plays himself in "Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild," likes being his own boss and calls into 99.7FM weekday mornings to dish the dirt with San Francisco radio personalities Baltazar and Maria.

Joining me at the San Francisco premiere of Another Gay Sequel is Perez Hilton, obviously Mario Lavandeira who plays Perez Hilton in the film.  What’s it like being in San Francisco, you haven’t been here in a long time?
It feels really wonderful to be here tonight because it was, I think exactly tens years that I saw Edge of Seventeen at the Castro Theatre, at this same film festive. So now to be in one of Todd Stephens’ other movies where I am seeing it for the first time tonight, at the Castro Theatre, at Frameline, is a, is really - it makes me wanna cry a little bit [giggles].

I know! it must be thrilling. You got your start as an actor and now you’re blogger Perez Hilton. What’s it like to come full circle, to come out with such a mainstream openly gay movie, as yourself being an openly gay mainstream blogger?
I feel really luck that I am my own boss. And I work really hard and I get to do a lot of really cool things - like be in this movie, which I am really excited about. It’s so gay, its got gay in the title twice [laughs], and I think it’s going to be really fun. I haven’t seen it yet. I’m really like looking forward to seeing the movie. Hopefully I don’t suck too badly in it.

I just interviewed RuPaul the other day and Ru says that you’re actually really good in it [AGS]. If you are good in it, you will be the queen of all media. It’s the last thing to conquer, what will that be like this summer if that happens?
There’s always more new things to try. I’m very ambitious. I’ve said it; I want to be the gay Latino Oprah. So it’s good to have something to work towards.

Well thank God Jennifer Lopez’ sister Lynda Lopez isn’t doing so well, so I know there’s and opeing. You know, I think the best thing I like about your blog, that I personally enjoy, are the radio pieces; they’re less than two minutes and there’re certainly amazing.
I am on a station here in San Francisco with Baltazar and Maria (Movin' 99.7FM), I call in live every morning (at 6am).

Tell me about your role in the film, what do you play and what was it like doing it?
Um… watch the movie [giggles]. I don’t wanna talk about my role too much. [His role as been described as a super-horny gay gossip writer who transforms into a fire-'n'-brimstone-spewing Christian priest.] It was just a lot of fun; I got to play. What is great about doing a film, as opposed to the Internet, is that working online it’s all so immediate, so fast. But, films are forever. So, I feel really privileged to be part of gay history.

You actually do a lot of traveling now, how do you keep up with the blogging while you’re on the road.
Um, I work really hard. I make sure to only travel at night, and um, I don’t sleep much.  But I love what I do, I am not complaining.

Listen to Celebrity Blogger Perez Hilton at 6am & 8am every weekday with Baltazar and Maria on CBS' Movin' 99.7FM (KMVQ) in San Francisco.
